CATCO Re-Organizes Staff for Return to Live Theatre

For the past 18 months, CATCO has operated with a small, and mighty team to produce virtual theatre and our first-ever successful outdoor production in July. Now, we’re beginning our slow, thoughtful, and safe return to live, indoor theatre productions.

Over the past few months, we have strategized about the ways to best maximize growth at CATCO and position the theatre to thrive in a post-pandemic world. As we planned our return to live, in-person theatre for the 2021-22 season, we concluded that a critical strategy was to re-organize our existing staff structure by adding a few critical positions.

Last week, we announced the hiring of four new staff members – Tony Koehler, production manager; Francine Marchelle, education director; Aleesha Nash, marketing director; and Christopher Austin, part-time casting director – to position CATCO for future growth.

It’s important to note that these are not really additional positions, rather a re-designed staff structure with professionals that are aligned with the work we will do as a company going forward to harness the power of theatre for the current moment to build a community of empathy. This staff re-organization is possible through careful evaluation of our financial resources for the future and by leveraging Ohio’s Employee Retention Tax Credit Program, which has been invaluable to us and many other organizations in re-building their staffs.

Tony, Francine, Aleesha and Christopher come to us with incredible talents and many years of experience in theatre to ensure that CATCO is able to create exceptional work, hire outstanding talent, expand education programs in classrooms and community settings, and engage audiences in immersive experiences.
